TOM FORD DRESSES THE MAN IN THE AIR OF THE 70S

Sophistication is also a man's thing and here is Tom Ford willing to prove it (in case anyone had any doubts).

The snake animal print stars in the entire collection of the North American designer, from ankle boots to shirts and even ties. The glasses are aggressive, imposing, large, very striking and suggestive.

Take a looks to see what you think.

Ford’s impeccable suiting served as the base of the collection, which was accented by sportswear references and an assortment of standout accessories. Aside from monochromatic and tiger camo looks, snakeskin patterns offered in a series of colors were used heavily in the seasonal range, while exaggerated sunglasses, luxe leather accessories and contemporary footwear elevated styles that captivated the crowd.

Discretion is not incompatible with sophistication and that is why, even when he resorts to black, Tom Ford never goes unnoticed and even less when combined with silver.

Can you imagine a tailored jacket as shiny as silver? Tom Ford has not only been able to imagine it but to include it in his collection.

One thing is clear: the American designer has set his sights on the 70s for his men's collection this winter.

Standout pieces include a snakeskin-patterned puffer, tiger camo blazer and flight cargo trousers. But the hybrid sneaker-loafer complete with front tassels and a molded sporty sole indicated a new direction for the ever-popular athleisure trend.

From the formers, he took the notions that men never looks more masculine than when they’re in fabric traditionally considered feminine (satin, brocade, lamé); from the latters, there was a more relaxed, rocked-up looks of skinny pants, shiny Cuban-heeled boots, and glam jackets.

Whether you are daring or not, the truth is that Tom Ford, once again, has designed for everyone; for the most elegant who do not renounce the classic cuts and the colors of a lifetime as for the most modern who are dying to give the cante wherever they go.

For the day, his most classic Prince of Wales outfits, paired with houndstooth shirts (or vice versa) and snake print ties.

For the traveling man (in his more sporty version ) Tom Ford proposes oversize garments, avidator style jackets with a twist and leathers or metallic materials.

Among all this, two other reason he showed his men’s solo on the runway—a new lines of watch and the launch of his underwear. The watche were handsome, hefty, luxe adornment. The underwear, matched to the skin tones of the male model, is based on the conceit that effectively you become nude when you wear it. We are of course in a moment when elsewhere people are calling time on sexualizing fashion, but for Ford, that would be simply giving in to the straitjacket—pin-striped or zebra print, it doesn’t matter—of being politically correct.
